Getting started on iPhone
Install Totals from the App Store. iPhone can't read your SMS on its own, so the app walks you through a one-time Apple Shortcut on first open. From then on each bank message is handed to the app and parsed on your device.
Don't want to automate it? Paste a bank message into Totals yourself and it parses the same way. Either path runs fully offline.
If messages aren't showing up
- Open Totals once. It reads any messages the Shortcut dropped the next time you open or resume the app.
- Check that the Shortcut actually ran. In the Shortcuts app, confirm the automation is on and set to run without asking.
- Make sure the sender is one of the supported banks below. A message from an unsupported sender is kept aside, not lost.
- To test parsing directly, paste one bank message into the app. If that lands, the Shortcut is the piece to fix.
If a transaction looks wrong
Banks change their SMS wording without warning, so once in a while a message parses incorrectly or not at all. Send us the message text on Telegram or open an issue on GitHub, and the parser gets updated. Change the amounts if you'd rather not share the real ones.
Totals reads your notifications, it isn't your bank. Cross-check anything important against your actual bank records before you rely on it.

Missing your bank? Ask for it on Telegram and send a sample message. New banks arrive through updates.
Your data, backups, and exports
Everything lives on your phone. To move or keep a copy, use Export for a CSV or a mini bank statement, or turn on the encrypted Telegram backup in settings. To wipe everything, clear the app data. There is no cloud copy to chase down.
